Marco Sario, who has since moved to the Letran Knights camp, was not his productive self in this game.

 

But as the La Salle Zobel Junior Archers went on to crushed the University of the East Junior Warriors, 107-79, Aljun Melecio struck hard again.

 

Melecio delivered a gamehigh 18 points, two rebounds, five assists and a steal for the Junior Archers.

His efforts helped push the Junior Archers to their third win in four matches on Day 4 of the 78th University Athletic Association of the Philippines Junior Basketball Tournament at the Blue Eagle gym in Katipunan, Quezon City.

 

This allowed the Junior Archers to share second spot with Ateneo and Far Eastern University.

The game started off with the Junior Warriors slightly ahead at 5-3.

 

This is where Brent Paraiso came in sank a triple with 8:54 to go, and a free throw a minute later.

 

From there, the Junior Archers seized the upperhand, taking a 7-5 edge.

A 14-0 run followed with Melecio hitting two treys, and the Junior Archers found themselves climbing to a 12-point advantage.

 

With their 17-5 lead in the first period, the Junior Archers stayed comfortably from then on.

 

The Junior Archers’ offensive run wasn’t finished yet.

Ian Sobrevega’s penetration, and Paco Rabat’s trey off Miguel Fortuna’s assist in the last six seconds handed La Salle-Zobel at 31-14 edge before the first period ended.

 

In the second period, two triples from Melecio widened the Junior Archers spread further by 21 points, 37-16, with 7:51 to go.

 

They later earned a 56-33 bubble in the final 41 seconds of the first half.

 

In the third period, Jaime Cabarrus’ charity allowed La Salle-Zobel to move away by 25 points, 64-39.

 

Finally, in the fourth period, Sobrevega’s triple and jumper put La Salle-Zobel out of UE’s reach, 79-49, with 2:41 to go.

 

And this is one win which kept the Junior Archers in contention for the Final Four semifinals, and its still early in the season.
