Bryan Lina celebrated his birthday with a bang.
Lina, who turned 16 last Saturday, November 29, and on the day the University of the Philippines Junior Maroons whipped the University of the East Junior Warriors, 67-54.
His big contribution with three other teammates allowed the Junior Maroons to grab a share of the early lead in the 77th University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Junior Basketball Tournament.

The 5-foot-8 Lina tallied 16 points and eight rebounds for the Junior Maroons, and in the 21 minutes he saw action at the Blue Eagles gym in Katipunan, Ave., Quezon City.
This included two big free throws in the last 4:22 of the second quarter.
His freebies came during a 9-0 run, and it handed the Junior Maroons a 31-18 advantage in the ensuing play.

Julius Barraquias backup Lina with 10 points, with his split in the last 4:07 allowed the Junior Maroons to move ahead by 13, 31-18.
Allane Barles shot seven points with Ron Lagahit for the Junior Maroons, who struggles in their efforts to move ahead in the first canto.
Rafael Labao hit four points with Joselle Tupaz, with his two charities in the final 1:10 of the first canto allowed UPIS to take an 15-11 edge.

But a drive with Michael Correche in the remaining 1:04 gave UE a chance to stay within range by two, 13-15, with 64 ticks left.
The UPIS Junior Maroons took the early lead with Adamson Baby Falcons, the defending champion National Bullpups and the Ateneo Blue Eaglets. Bullpups banked on the late game heroics of Philip Manalang and Allen Mina to put away Far Eastern University, 71-66.
Manalang his 13 points, including a charity in the last 27 seconds which allowed NU to move away, 70-66.
Mina also had 13, with his triple in the final 1:24 turning the table in favor of the Bullpups, 66-64.
Michael Nieto unloaded 20 points and eight rebounds for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets, who turned back La Salle-Zobel, 68-57, while John Egan fired 14 for the Baby Falcons as they won over University of Santo Tomas, 75-69.
The Blue Eaglets leaned on a 7-0 run in the start of the first period to leave behind the Junior Archers with a 23-10 first period edge.
James Pasturan tallied 12 for the Baby Falcons, including nine in the first as they quickly took charge, 25-10.
