Varsity Sports Updates (NCAA Volleyball results)- EAC Generals, SSC Lady Stags take charge

The Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals and the San Sebastian Lady Stags got another big lift from their aces.

Howard Mojica and Gretchell Soltones took charge for their respective teams as the Generals and the Lady Stags came up with respectable showings  in the men’s and women’s divisions last Nov. 26, Tuesday.

Their efforts helped the Generals and the Lady Stags stay at the forefront of the standings  in the 89th National Collegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Tournament at the Arena in San Juan.

Mojica led with 17 points for the Generals, who turned back the Letran Knights, 25-19, 25-21, 26-26, in their 67 minutelong contest.

This allowed the Generals to post their third straight win, and earn a share of the lead with the University of Perpetual Help Altas.

They are now ahead of the San Beda Red Spikers (2-0).

The College of St. Benilde Blazers are behind at 2-1.

Soltones struck with 10 points for the Lady Stags, who outplayed the Mapua Lady Cardinals, 25-15, 25-18, 25-11.

Their third consecutive triumph allowed the Lady Stags to gain a share of the top spot with the CSB Lady Blazers.

The Blazers dropped to third after they took a 23-25, 22-25, 20-25 loss to the Altas the other day in the men’s contest.

The Knights fell behind with their 1-2 win-loss record.

EAC-ICA is getting big games from Ishmael Rivera.

They  turned back Letran, 25-11, 25-16, 25-21, in the junior side.

This allowed them to join San Sebastian in the lead with their second straight win.

In the women’s side, EAC picked up its second consecutive triumph at the expense of Letran, 25-13, 25-15, 25-7,

Charlotte Lorenzo dished out 11 points for the EAC Lady Generals, who moved to a share of third at 2-1.

They have the same slate with University of Perpetual Help and Arellano.
