His efforts pushed the  Mendiola dribblers ahead, 64-62.

He came into the picture just as the Staglets began experiencing a meltdown in the ensuing play.

The Red Cubs forced a 68-all tie and with Diputado hitting his last trey during a 9-4 windup.

“Lahat, ginawa ni Diputado sa last part. Masama ang defense namin sa first half, pero unti-unti kaming naka-catchup sa second half,” said Red Cubs coach JB Sison.

The Red Cubs felt the absence of big man Arvin Tolentino, who saw action in the 2013 FIBA world 3×3 championships.

They stayed on track for an outright finals seat, while the Staglets kept their grip of the no. 2 spot at 11-3.

Earlier, the University of Perpetual Help Junior Altas (6-10) drew 31 points from Shaq Imperial as they crushed the Lyceum Junior Pirates (0-15), 83-68.

Usually, Diputado averages 16 points per game.

His previous high was on Aug. 24 when he banged in 24 points for the Red Cubs, who struck down the Letran Squires, 100-86.
