Thirdy Ravena is expected to join his elder brother Kiefer with the Ateneo Blue Eagles next year.

Coach Joe Silva said this after the Ateneo Blue Eaglets won over the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs, 75-69, in the last first round game last Saturday(Aug. 3) in the 76th University Athletic Association of the Philippine Junior Basketball tournament at the FilOil-Flying V Arena.

Although Thirdy  scored only six points, he was a factor under the boards with 11 rebounds and was reliable enough with his six assists.

Because of his efforts in other departments as well, Thirdy is now leading the MVP race.

He compiled  74.4286 statistical points with his averages of 19 point, 9.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists.

Teammate Michael Nieto is no. 2 with 73.1667.

But Nieto has already been suspended for unsportsmanlike conduct in the first round, and  he is no longer eligible for individual awards.

National University’s  Mark Dyke and Adamson’s Reinier Quinga had identical 68.5714 SPs in joint third, while La Salle-Zobel’s Renzo Subido (67.8571) and NU’s John Cauilan (67.2) are also in contention for the Mythical Five.

“He will mostly like be with the Blue Eagles next year,” said Silva at the dugout as he reviewed the stats of the game.
